Blessed
with an abundance of natural beauty, the Kullu valley, is rightly
celebrated as the Valley of Gods. Nestled between the Dhauladhar and Pir
Panjal ranges, it is the cradle of the great River Beas. About 80 km long,
this lush valley extends from the gorge at Aut to the Rohtang Pass. It
harbours forests, alpine meadows, gurgling rivulets and orchards laden
with fruit, and its inhabitants are a joyful and gentle people.
Languages
spoken
In
most part of Kullu valley, Kullvi is spoken but the village folk also
understand Hindi. You will even find a few people being able to
communicate in English too.
White
water rafting in Kullu valley is done on river Beas from
Pirdi (4 kms
ahead of Kullu town)down to Jhiri, a stretch of approximately 14 kms.
(Period Apr 15th-Jun end). The jouney takes nearly one & half hour
consisting of rapids from grade II & III.
Paragliding in Kullu valley is organized throughout the year at Solang Valley.
There
are generally two kind of flights:
1.
Short flights : The client is taken 100 - 150 mts up the skiing slope and
takes a flight along with the pilot in the two seater
paraglider.
The flight lasts for approximately 1 minute.
2. High flying :
Approximately 20-30 minutes flight and arranged at Dhundi, Kothi and Bijli
Mahadev. Mainly for experienced pilots.
Skiing
can be organised at Solang Valley from January to March and at Gulaba,
Marhi or Rohtang from April to
mid July.
Trekking
in Kullu Valley
Now-a-days there is as such no particular trekking season in Kullu valley
and a new concept " Winter trekking" is also catching on. The
main season of trekking in Kullu starts from April to late October. In April
& May trekking can be done in lower ranges of the valley. After mid June the
high mountain passes become accessible and hence, open up the higher ranges.
From July onwards trekking trips are organized from Manali to Lahaul &
Spiti, Kangra Valley, Chamba & Bharmaur, Pin Valley and even as far as
Leh & Ladakh passing through Zanskar region.

Himalayan National Park (GHNP) situated in the Kullu District of Himachal
Pradesh is one of the least disturbed Western Himalayan representative Eco
Systems, supporting an extremely diverse wildlife population.
The
scenic way to the little Lahasa - Mc Leodganj in Dharamsala. This
trek starts from Kullu valley and passes through some of the remotest
villages of this area, ending in Bir.
